If you are facing a domain name conflict, you won’t go to a traditional court, but rather to an administrative procedure before ICANN-accredited providers. Although they all apply the same Uniform Policy (UDRP), each has its own Supplemental Rules that can influence the cost and speed of your case.

The 5 Major International Centers:

  1. WIPO (OMPI): The global benchmark and creator of the UDRP. It is a neutral institution that offers a public database with thousands of legal precedents.
  2. Forum (NAF): Highly active in the US, it manages both generic and territorial domains. It stands out for its strict technical rules, such as a 15-page limit for filings.
  3. CIIDRC: A Canadian center that allows for fully electronic and cost-effective complaint management, covering both the UDRP and Canada’s specific policy (.ca).
  4. ADNDRC: The first provider in Asia, with offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Seoul, ideal for disputes in that geographic region.
  5. Czech Arbitration Court (CAC): Recognized in Europe for its multilingual platform (24 languages) and its efficiency in electronic processes.

What are Supplemental Rules?

These are the internal rules of each center that define critical technical aspects: word limits (between 3,000 and 5,000), fees (in USD, CAD, or EUR), and deadlines (some count business days while others use calendar days).

Expert Tip: Before filing a complaint, review the rules of your chosen provider, as a formal error could lead to the rejection of your claim.
